It breaks my heart to read the messages we've received

Almost every month, moms, dads, and grandparents write to us and tell us more or less the same thing.

“It’s so hard, and it makes me so unsure whether I’m doing the right thing as a mom, but I hear very often that I’m spoiling my child because I carry him so much.”

Then they continue:

“But I love having my child close by. Thank you for making it so much easier.”

We just want to say one thing.

Of course, children should be allowed to explore the world, play, crawl, walk, and develop at their own pace. But when they get tired, sad, overwhelmed, or just want to be close, that closeness isn’t spoiling them.

Research on attachment shows that children who are met with warmth, security, and responsiveness develop a secure attachment. That sense of security becomes a secure base that actually enables many children to explore the world with greater self-confidence. Responding to a child’s need for closeness does not create dependent children—it helps them feel secure enough to become independent. (UNICEF)

Children are little for only a very short time. One day, they won't want to be carried anymore.

So hold them close while they’re still reaching out their little arms toward you. We’re proud that GooGosa gets to be a small part of that time. 🧡
